On August 14, 2000 the Coopersville City Council paved the
way for an expansion to the museum. With Planning Commission
approval, the museum commenced construction of an L-shaped structure
on the north side of the existing building. The 2,076 sq. ft.
addition now houses a sawmill, schoolroom exhibit, a work area, handicap accessible restroom
and additional storage space. Construction started in September
2000 and was enclosed by December 2000.

In early 2007 the City of Coopersville commissioned architectural drawings for another addition that will totally enclose the intururban railway car to protect it from the elements. This addition will also provide research space as well as additional exhibit and meeting areas. Campaign plans
are being determined for a building
expansion fund and a museum endowment fund. There are some very good tax credits
for donations made to these funds. Call (616) 997-6978 for details. |
