CAHS Sawmill Construction Volunteers

On a cool November weekend, 20th Century "loggers" installed roughsawn siding from Homestead Timbers of Marne, MI on the Coopersville Historical Society Museum Sawmill addition.

Top to bottom & left to right are: Jim Ponshair on ladder, Adrian Brown, Dick Ponshair, Otto Nemecek, Mike Cary, Dave Kromer, & Bob Nawrocki, kneeling.

Additional volunteers made lunch, cookies, and coffee for the workers.

Volunteers were pushing hard to get the museum addition enclosed before winter weather closed in. The addition will house the century old Sawmill display, a letterpress printing display, workshop, and extra storage space. Additional funds need to be raised before the addition can be opened to the public. To meet ADA building requirements, handicap bathrooms, a drinking fountain and a utility sink had to be added to the original plans and must be installed before the public can tour the new facility.
